Sivyj Yar (an ancient deity of Slavs), is a black metal
band from Vyritsa, Russia formed in 2006. The author and the only member of the project is Vladimir. The lyrical part of Sivyj Yar is based on Slavonic mythology and poetry. These are the songs about those who have gone into oblivion, the memories of whom has been lost.

La mine, c'est le lieu qui met le plus en exergue les disparités sociales : d'un côté ils sont des milliers à descendre dans les entrailles de la terre, de l'autre une poignée s'élève socialement ; d'un côté ils meurent par centaines sous l'effet des coups de grisou, de l'autre ils consolident leurs richesses. Cette dualité, elle traverse aussi Kentucky : d'un côté le black metal atmosphérique asphyxiant, de l'autre l'americana et le folklore héroïque. Panopticon est dans la lutte permanente !

This is my first exposure to Sivyj Yar and I must say I like what ‘Burial Shrouds’ brings to the table. Atmospheric black metal with a melancholic and folksy feeling that is achieved with minimal use of non traditional instruments. Somewhere from the same book as Agalloch. 8/10

This album seems to get better after every listen. And I have stopped counting how many times I have listened. The pinnacle of atmospheric black metal is close to being achieved; it's definitely quintessential.
